Maaike Roozenburg is a designer. She develops concepts, projects and products on the border of heritage, design and visual communication. After graduating at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam she founded Studio Maaike Roozenburg.

In her practice she combines a historical fascination with high tech materials and techniques and ‘traditional’ crafts. ‘Research by design’ plays an important role in these projects. The studio aims to research and communicate the value of historical (museum) heritage, an approach, which can result in a design collection of ceramics pieces, a work for the facade of a building, an exhibition for a museum, or a mobile application that unlocks a historical collection.

Besides her work at the studio, Roozenburg teaches at the Post Graduate Course of Industrial Design at the Royal Academy of Art. Maaike Roozenburg is course tutor of the thematic seminar On Superfluous Things.
