DSC_9539_bw mcMario Minale was granted a diploma in Industrial Design from the University of Wuppertal, DE and a master’s degree in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. After work experience in product design and filmmaking in Europe and abroad, and architectural model-making and resin-casting at Werkplaats Vincent de Rijk he became founding partner of Rotterdam based Studio Minale-Maeda, where he has worked on commercial, autonomous and institutional projects for among others Alcantara, Droog, Galerie Tools, Galerie Vivid, Kvadrat, Mint, Nodus, Rossana Orlandi, Vitra and TextielMuseum Tilburg. Research periods were spent with Italian weavers, Japanese porcelain workshops and a residency at the European Ceramic Work Center in Den Bosch. Works were included in the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, Museum Boijmans-Van Beuningen, MAK – Museum für angewandte Kunst Vienna, Textielmuseum Tilburg and Centraal Museum Utrecht. The studio won among others a Wallpaper* Design Award, a Kortrijk Biennale Interieur Award and was finalist for two Dutch Design Awards. Exhibitions included Vitra Design Museum, Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, MUDAC Lausanne, MAK Vienna and regular participations at the Fuorisalone in Milan.
