Kate Briggs is a writer and translator based in Kate Briggs is the translator of two volumes of Roland Barthes’s lecture notes at the Collège de France, an experience which informed This Little Art (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2017), a long essay on the practice of literary translation. This Little Art was a book of the year in the Times Literary Supplement (2017), Literary Hub and The White Review (2018) and recently longlisted for a Believer Book Award. Other recent and ongoing projects include: ‘I am a Live Creature! Form as Experience’, a lecture delivered at Glasgow International (2018), ‘Of the Novel Experimental’, a partial retranslation of Emile Zola’s Le roman expérimental published in Do Not Make The (MAP, 2018), and Entertaining Ideas, a short essay on writing backwards (Ma Bibliothèque, 2019)
