Hedwig Houben (b. 1983, Boxtel, The Netherlands) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.
Through performance, installations and video, she reflects on the value of art, her objects, and ways of working. Her practice emphasizes the process of creation and questions the infinite possibilities before an image or object is made.Houben studied at the Art Academy Breda (The Netherlands), the Art Academy Düsseldorf, and was a resident at HISK in Ghent, Belgium. In 2015, Houben was nominated for the Prix de Rome. She has had recent solo exhibitions in Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam (2015) and 1646, Den Haag, The Netherlands (2013) and her work was included in UnScene III, Wiels Brussels, Belgium; LIAF (Lofoten International Art Festival) Lofoten, Norway and Parashopia, Kyoto Japan (all 2015).
