In 2002-2003 Navid Nuur (1976, Tehran) was a participant of the MA Fine Art at WdKA's Piet Zwart Institute. Since then, he has exhibited both at home and abroad. In October 2007 there are even two exhibitions, chronologically overlapping: one is at Stroom in The Hague, and the other one at Moira in Utrecht.
Navid Nuur investigates and changes the ways in which we see and experience a given space, starting from his interest in that which we register unconsciously or that which we almost fail to register at all because we concentrate on something else again. Nuur uses terms that deal with temporary 'in between' situations' that locate his work between the viewer and often abstract phenomena like light, air, or left over space. The results are mainly conceptual and cognitive by nature. in Navid Nuur's oeuvre, installations, drawings and objects present themselves as models for thought. Rather then drawings, installations, etcetera Navid Nuur like to refer to his works as 'interimodules'. 'Module' as in conceptual model, 'interim' as a temporary in between.
On the occasion of the exhibition at Stroom/The Hague the book ETIOLATION I will be published, containing texts by Haye van der Werf, Edith Doove and Mihnea Mircan.
A line up of Nuur's recent works and projects, his CV and some texts by him are to be found here.
