BLAAK10, WdKA's gallery at Rotterdam's Witte de Withstraat presents works by five alumni of the MA Media Design program of WdKA's Piet Zwart Institute. The title of the exhibition is, of course, a pun on GPS, the global positioning system. Taking the name literally, the exhibition presents five critical media positions towards globalized technological and social systems.

Participating artists are Walter Langelaar (The Netherlands), Tsila Hassine (Israel), Shahee Ilyas (Maledives), Nancy Mauro-Flude (Australia) and Audrey Samson (Canada). A common theme is their reflection of information technology in relation to culture and global politics. The exhibition thus features a website that tracks and overlays Internet images related to geopolitical search terms and golden picture frames around political leaders mapping their years in power and the corruption and freedom of press in their countries. Other works consist of Barbie dolls mutated into musical controllers for performance artists, a game joystick taking up a life of its own, and a feminist machine that reflects how computing grew out of sewing technology.
